Since Apple 15, Apple mobile phones have started to use type-c interface. Apple has abandoned the lightning interface that it has used for 10 years. Why does it do this?

Apple launched the iPhone 5 10 years ago. At that time, Apple mobile phones were booming under the leadership of Mr. Joe. Since then, Apple has launched its unique excuse-the lightning interface. This interface was disruptive at the time, because before it, the traditional mic-USB interface had only two functions: charging and synchronizing data. However, Apple has launched a lightning interface that, in addition to these two basic functions, also includes audio transmission, video output, playback control, etc. This technology is a dimensionality reduction blow to traditional interfaces. In recent years, the Lighting interface has become a cash cow for Apple. According to the British "Daily Mail" estimate, Apple can earn about 5 billion US dollars a year, equivalent to 300 US dollars, just from selling Lighting data cables and MFi certification. Sixty-five billion yuan. There is an MFi verification chip hidden in each Lighting interface, and MFi certification is a way for Apple to make money for developers and users.

As a world-class company, Apple has always taken environmental protection as its responsibility. Of course, Apple has also done a lot. For example, it will make all Apple products 100% powered by renewable energy, encourage users to recycle old equipment, and encourage the design of repairable devices. Products, even starting from iPhone 12, Apple has canceled the standard charging head in the box in the name of environmental protection. The slogan of environmental protection has won Apple the support of many customers. As the saying goes, Xiao He is also a success, and Xiao He is a failure. It is Apple's "environmental protection" concept that buried Apple's lightning interface.

The European Union proposed an "environmental protection" requirement in 2020, an initiative for manufacturers such as Apple to adopt a universal charging interface. Because once this standard charger is used, consumers no longer need to purchase it separately from each manufacturer, which can save 250 million pounds and reduce the emission of electronic waste by 11,000 tons. Regarding the "environmental protection" suggestions put forward by the European Union, Apple is not interested in it and has not said anything. This has put Apple under pressure from Europe and doubts from the public, but this is nothing compared to making money.

In 2022, the EU looked at Apple and didn't buy it, so the EU announced that it would ban the iPhone unless it changed its interface to Type-C. Does this push Apple to a dead end? Should it give up the EU, which has a market worth hundreds of billions, or continue to use its own exclusive lightning interface? The answer came out quickly. Apple gave up the lightning interface and chose to embrace the EU market, so Apple wanted to change the lightning interface to a type-C interface.

As a profit-oriented company, Apple has cut off its lightning interface business, which earns more than 30 billion yuan a year. It has to be said that it is forced to do so.
